FIFTH SESSION

SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY - 14:20-15:20

GAVIN GOUGH
The RACING MIND COACH

Gavin Gough, The Racing Mind Coach to Nissan GT Academy between 2009 and 2014, invites those attending MSD Live 2019 to enjoy a Mind Coaching Workshop.

In a change of format from my speaking of mental skills and strengths, as I did last year, this year I propose to guide attendees through a series of exercises which can help you as race drivers achieve more, quite possibly more than you might think possible.

Many will suggest that race car performance operates within given limits of the physics of the machine, athletes, competitors, race drivers are free of such limits, they can however impose their own limits, limits which are determined by self confidence, self belief and self image. In fact, as is generally recognised nowadays, we are what/who we tell ourselves we are, in short we can also defeat ourselves by what is being processed in the unconscious mind, a place in which our respective strengths and weaknesses are filed away. Very often the weaknesses can overwhelm the strengths to a appoint of undermining performance.

Mark Cavendish a world champion cycle racer once said;

“All riders train their legs, very few train their minds”

So, together we can begin the process of creating positive change in your mind to create positive change on track, so why not come along and join us, we can rock you.
