Introducing MotorsportDays LIVE and interviewing Colin Clark about his role within Motorsport UK will be BWR Media’s Ben Whibley. He is the director and founder of the MotorsportDays brand and PRO-AM publications and is committed to help make getting on track and into motorsport easier for everyone. A regular on the racetrack himself, Ben has competed at a number of levels since his karting days in the mid-90s. He went on to win the Caterham Academy in 2009 with regular wins and podiums across Europe in the R400 Championship.

Julian Hedley

Julian is a highly experienced tax accountant having qualified as an Inspector of Taxes with HMRC and then worked within the Special Compliance Office and the Foreign Entertainers Unit introducing the UK’s Artist Withholding Tax. He has worked within the entertainment sector for 32 years and has represented some of the world’s most high profile musicians and sports stars.
Julian joined Saffery Champness in 2011 from RSM Tenon, where he spent over 20 years as head of RSM Tenon Media and also the Managing Director of the firm’s London office. Until March 2019 he was the head of Saffery Champness’ Sports and Entertainment Team which consists of 9 partners and 50 staff.
He has written articles for Taxation, The Tax Journal and various journals in the music and sport industries. He has also lectured for IBC – Performers Tax & Finance and Network CPD Ltd – Taxation of Endorsement Income.

Sarah Franklin

Sarah is a lawyer with over 30 years’ experience and had her own practice for over 13 years. Sarah started circuit racing herself in 2004, initially in Ginettas but has since raced in many formula, including Porsche Carrera Cup, Production Touring Cars and, more recently, the Michelin Clio Cup Series. Being involved in motorsport has seen Sarah carry out a lot of legal work within the motorsport industry, including dealing with the Motor Sport Council’s national court hearings, drafting contracts and agreements, dealing with disputes and pursuing debts! She is also on the committee of the British Women Racing Drivers Club, the Motorsport UK’s Judicial Advisory Committee and is a British Motorsport Marshals Club Brand Ambassador.

Grafton LSR, the company is taking Bloodhound to the desert in October of 2019, to do high speed testing. My role will be to look after Product and SME sponsors and in doing so support the team in getting the car to the desert. This is the latest chapter in the cars journey to breaking the land speed record. The car, that was saved by Ian Warhurst from being scrapped earlier this year, is undergoing final preparations to run at high speed on the Hakskeenpan. There are new and exciting opportunities to get involved, sponsor and support.

Mike Joined the Team in September 2015 to assist Team Principal Dave Player in creating a strategic sponsorship acquisition strategy. Mike has a wealth of commercial experience from his time in F1 with the Team that started out as Virgin Racing before morphing into the Marussia F1 Team. Mike left the Team to set up his own agency in October 2014. Apex Sports Marketing work with rights holders to secure sponsorship and with brands on their sponsorship activations such as incentives and hospitality programmes. Mike has been instrumental in securing the long term financial future of Team BRIT and continues to work towards raising the required funds to enable the Team to take the necessary steps up the motorsport ladder to Le Mans. When Mike is not working, he can be found supporting his boys playing football on a Saturday morning or out and about walking his Old English Sheepdog Lola. His racing career began in Cadet Karting in 1993 and since then has become one of the most prolific visitors to the podium. Highly respected by international brands; Turkington has established himself as the perfectionist in developing new cars, winning Championships and winning the support of fans across the globe.

Dick Bennetts
WSR Team Manager
West Surrey Racing is a UK-based motorsport team run by New Zealander Dick Bennetts. He is responsible for masterminding the careers of such names as Ayrton Senna, Mika Häkkinen, Jonathan Palmer, Rubens Barrichello, Maurício Gugelmin and Eddie Irvine with his involvement in F3 and a racing academy in the 80s and 90s. Founded in 1981, WSR has won more than 70 races in Formula 3 and more than 100 class and outright wins in the BTCC.

Gemma is a qualified Engineer with a BEng in Mechanical Engineering and an MSc in Advanced Motorsport Engineering from Cranfield University. She has worked trackside in BTCC and GT, reaching the F1 pitlane at the age of 23 as a Tyre Engineer for Pirelli. She then moved to Manor F1 as the team’s Tyre and Strategy Engineer.
